Cron Scheduling

Just finished latova's cron scheduling. I've been putting it off for a while but finally took the time to make it. It's pretty slick. Basically you decide if you want a certain script to run by minutes, hours and day of the week. So maybe once a week you can scedule a database backup. Or have latova clean up old data every hour. Or maybe every day at midnight have some kind of lottery. Who knows.

I also got myself a new laptopish. It's a netbook, the eeepc 1000. It's got a 10 inch screen, really light, and I'm running ubuntu on the thing. I use it to code now as well. The screen is just the perfect size and resolution to work on code (1024x600) and the keyboard is surprisingly perfectly fine to write with. Takes a bit of getting used to, but overall I'm very happy with it. It's obviously not a gaming machine, and it's not designed for huge CPU intensive usage. I've pretty much determined the limits of the machine already. It can run compiz fusion, I can code with it and other things like that, so in my eyes this machine is perfectly fine. It cost me about 300 bucks but I think it was worth it. Plus it's really mobile, no problems taking it around with me on the go. It's got 40gig SSD as well, which goes well with the lack of CD drive, meaning there's no moving parts (except for like one fan) inside the machine, which is good for when the machine may be moved or whatever.

No ETAs on any releases. I've been playing around with ajax as well and seeing if I can have it sort using that instead of the dropdowns and button I have on every sortable list in CP.

BBtags in CP

Hurray. Now you'll all finally get a taste of why the realtime latova parser is so cool. Anyways here's the list of default editable bbtags. All of them can be deleted or changed, and all future and previous posts will be updated to whatever you change. It's pretty cool stuff.

One of the more requested features, I finally put it in.

Schools done

Finished school, so while I'm job hunting I'll have some time for latova too :)

Expect another update in a bit.

On hold...

I just realized, I have exactly one month left of school. So it'd probably be in my best interest to focus in and finish it up. I'll probably have a bit of time off, with the fact I'll be looking for a job and the poor state of the economy. I really do hope I find something, but then again I have massive experience plus lots of examples of work (take latova, for example :) ).

But yeah. No new alpha release yet guys. I could release something but most of the changes are under the hood. It's been slow because I've had to put school first. I don't exactly know how things are going to work for this project with a 40 hour a week job either. What I'll probably do is have a lot more time on the weekends due to no homework, so I'll probably get latova stuff then.

Also whos been reading up on the Conficker worm? It's infected like 10 million computers (I think), and apparently they all activate on April 1st, but nobody knows what exactly they're going to do. Nobodies ever had a botnet this big, in a way its exciting to see what's going to happen, also pretty scary. He could do something lame like DDOS certain sites for money or messing up peoples computers. But the fact that it happens on April 1st makes it such a interesting date, he's had a lot of time to think of what he's going to do with all these machines. Who knows, maybe nothing will happen. I guess we'll find out next week.
